With so many skincare options available, it is important to select the right products for your specific needs. To help you decide on the most effective regimen for your skin, learn more about microdermabrasion, the PMD device, and the treatment results below. Dr. Mark Taylor, President, Gateway Aesthetic Institute is a minority investor in PMD Personal Microderm.
Microdermabrasion is a noninvasive form of exfoliation and mild skin resurfacing that removes the dead skin cells from the Stratum Corneum, the outer most layer of the skin. The Stratum Corneum is the layer of the skin affected by fine lines, wrinkles, tone, texture and blemishes. The concentrated microdermabrasion treatment exfoliates this skin layer to break apart these common imperfections. This then triggers the body’s healing mechanisms, causing the removed dead skin cells to be rapidly replaced with healthy, new ones.
Microdermabrasion provides several important benefits for the skin. The treatment smoothes away dull and rough skin texture, and it softens the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and blemishes. The treatment also improves the skin’s tone by fading the appearance of brown spots, and skin blemishes. In addition, microdermabrasion, which combines the power of a vacuum suction with exfoliation, reduces the formation of blemishes. The vacuum achieves this by clearing out clogged pores and releasing trapped dirt and oil. This leaves skin more clear, vibrant, and beautiful.
The benefits of microdermabrasion cause skin to become rejuvenated, while stimulating the skin and facilitating cell renewal. Also, since the dead skin cells on the Stratum Corneum act as a barrier for the skin, once they are removed through microdermabrasion, skin care products will be more fully absorbed into the skin, maximizing their effectiveness. All these microdermabrasion benefits combine to uncover youthful and radiant skin.
The PMD Personal Microderm is an at-home microdermabrasion device that uses Aluminum Oxide Crystals and a vacuum suction to smooth away dead skin cells and literally uncover younger skin. When used just once a week, the PMD will minimize the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, brown spots, tone, texture and blemishes for a vibrant, youthful complexion.

A Study Conducted by Dr. Mark Taylor, One of the Top-Five Laser Surgeons in the World
The PMD Personal Microderm is a new at-home microdermabrasion device that provides great skin resurfacing results. To compare these results of the PMD device with “standard” in-clinic microdermabrasion treatments, I tested the PMD on seven patients from the client base at the Gateway Aesthetic Institute and Laser Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. From their homes, each of the patients conducted fifteen treatments on themselves.
Clinical examinations, in combination with “before-and-after” patient photos, verified that an improved skin appearance, which is equal to our in-clinic results, was achieved with the PMD device.
It is critical to read all directions, watch the instructional video, and protect the skin from excessive sun exposure prior to and proceeding each treatment.
The PMD Personal Microderm is an amazing new home beauty tool. Try it. I believe it will become an important part of your skin youth and beauty maintenance program.

Exfoliation is the process of removing dead skin cells, dirt, and oil from the surface of the skin, which either occurs naturally or is stimulated through the use of products. Since the skin’s natural exfoliating ability weakens with age, products are often needed to provide results. The two types of product-based exfoliation are:
- Chemical Exfoliants: facial peels, lotions, gels, and creams. These types of products use acids or enzymes to loosen and dissolve the glue-like substances holding the skin’s cells together.
- Manual (Mechanical) Exfoliants: masks, scrubs, salts, abrasive pads, and microdermabrasion. These products use friction from physical contact to rid the skin of dead cells and unclog pores.
The most effective exfoliation technique is microdermabrasion. Microdermabrasion leaves the skin more smooth, bright, and firm, while reducing visible damage and imperfection. The PMD Personal Microderm has three levels of exfoliation to accommodate different skin types and needs. The blue discs, which are used on sensitive skin, are the lowest level of exfoliation. The green discs provide mid-level exfoliation. The strongest level of exfoliation is delivered by the red disc. The higher level exfoliating discs should only be used on coarse or resilient skin. It is always better to begin with very mild treatments and gradually increase the exfoliation level over time, if necessary.
