In the world of fashion it is hard to stay on top of anything. It seems like every season, month and sometimes week there is a new color or style that is in. So how does a women stay on top of it all? The answer is simple: accessories and makeup.
Accessories can make last years outfit as trendy as a new outfit this year and are extremely versatile. Okay, so let’s start with basics: the base wardrobe. Watch what we can do as the accessories become the wow factor.
BASE FALL OUTFIT
Your base set of clothes will be your go-to and the most crucial starting point. Most of us have racks of clothes but we really only wear about one quarter of them regularly. So design a base of outfit options that can go with any color. Remember these base outfit options are going to get dressed up with accessories and makeup, so alone they could seem boring but we need them versatile.
Stick with neutral colors:
- Dark Blues
I am not saying you should have every one of those colors or all one tone of color. But keep it basic so you can bring the color in as finishing touches. Here are the absolute basic pieces we recommend you start with for Fall:
- 2 pairs of jeans – 1 slender leg and one boot cut leg
- 1 pair dress pants – if you work at a job where you wear more business attire bump this number up to 4)
- 2 cotton shirts
- 2 blouses
- 2 sweaters
- 1 maxi skirt
- 1 pencil skirt
- 2 Coats – 1 long and 1 short
We could go on and on about the base set and the strategies there but let’s get to fun part. How to be trendy now without spending a lot of money
There is power in accessories. They can take a simple outfit to a wow outfit and keep it trendy from season to season without all the costs clothes can incur. That being said you can spend a lot of money but remember you are planning on updating your accessories each season rather than your whole wardrobe so you don’t have to go on the highest end of quality.
These are the colors this Fall (2014)
The colors will change from year to year but this idea won’t. To get the point across, here are a few pictures to show you what accessories can do to basic outfits. (Notice how the fall fashion colors are in the accessories.)
Makeup can be expensive. So, changing your makeup each season to match the new fall fashion can be overwhelming. Here are two tricks that will help you survive each season.
Tip 1 – Eye Shadow
Eye shadow is one of the cheaper makeup items, partly because we use so little at a time it lasts a long while. You don’t need to buy every Fall color. Instead, pick 3 or 4 and add just a little on the inner corner of your eyelids. Below is an example. It is more extreme then you might use for an everyday look but it illustrates the idea.
Tip 2 – Nail Polish
Most fashion sites would tell you to add a pop of fashion color on your lips. I have found, though, the average woman either can’t or doesn’t feel comfortable wearing a strong color on their lips. Instead, move the colors to your fingernails and toes. It brings the fashion color in another place without being so in your face.
